When the DSP-Directory Sync Pro tool attempts to set the passwords on changed/updated user accounts. DSP will fail with the below error noted in the logs:
"Error connecting to remote share (WNetAddConnection2 error code: 5)"
DSP is attempting to establish a Network Share connection to the target domain controller. "Error Code 5 is 'Access Denied'"
Explicitly add the configured AD Target (under the connections section) target service account as a Built-in\Administrator on the target Domain Controller.
The target service account information is located under the following section within DSP:
From the DSP Console | Select the profile in scope for password synchronization | Select Manage | Settings | Connections |Target
The 'Target Credentials' and 'Target Global Catalog' sections will contain the account which should be added into the Built-In\Administrator on the target Domain Controller.
NOTE:
You may also need to verify the source side to be sure. This KB article is also applicable to the source side.
Please verify and ensure that the password has not expired.
Check whether the account was not moved to an incorrect OU, which would mean it is no longer a Domain Administrator.
