Unable to activate Content Matrix license key (4317913)

When activating the Content Matrix license key, the error message below is displayed even if the machine has internet connection:

However, when performing an offline activation of the license key, it displays a different error message:

Both license activation error includes the "It is not able to restore Usage.lic file, because its backup does not exist" message in its stack trace.

The error message below may also be encountered when performing an offline activation:

There are two known causes:

• Some license files have information, which is blocking the activation.
• Running an older version of Content Matrix

A) Make sure you are running a Content Matrix version with active support, you can check the Product Life Cycle here.

Or

B) Follow the  steps below

1. Close the Content Matrix Console.
2. Remove the following files from C:\ProgramData\Metalogix:

3. Re-launch the Content Matrix Console and reactivate its license key.

Note: Since the ProgramData folder is hidden by default, its full path has to be entered in the File Explorer.
