In a situation where a Windows OS or SQL Server patch or vulnerability mitigation is implemented, how is this going to impact Change Auditor components?
Generally speaking, Quest applications are agnostic to any Windows Server patch or vulnerability mitigation unless it points to a specific application component (such as a DLL file within the installation path), in which case we would have to investigate internally further by opening a support case. Otherwise, you just have to ensure the application complies with the necessary system requirements information (software and hardware) on the host where it is installed depending on the product version you have.
If the Quest application uses a SQL Server database, depending on the product it may be important and a best practice to have a full backup of it as a precaution if something goes wrong. For example, in the case of Change Auditor, there is no doubt this is a must. Nevertheless, SQL Server patches and vulnerability corrections should not impact Quest applications as we are typically agnostic to these changes unless they touch directly a system requirement or component used by the application as previously mentioned. In this case, you may try to reinstall/repair the impacted Quest application after the mitigation or patch is implemented. You may then open a support case with Quest if the application still doesn't work afterward for further assistance.
