DCOM Identity for MAgE constantly requires resetting despite following KB 135009 -
Description
MAgE logs the following error:"The server process could not be started because the configured identity is incorrect"After following KB 135009 (https://support.quest.com/migration-manager-for-exchange/kb/135009) the problem will initially be resolved only to reoccur some time later seemingly at random.Additionally the following error may be observed in the event log:Event ID: 10004 Source: DCOMDCOM got error "Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password." and was unable to logon -
Cause
Log on as a batch job privilege is not set for the Identity of the "Migration Agent for Exchange MAPI Assistant" COM + application service.
Entering the credentials again will grant this right but Group policy may be subsequently removing this right. -
Resolution
Enter the username and password again for the Identity even if they have not changed, this will grant the Log on as a batch job privilege.
Ensure Group Policy is not removing the right for the respective identity. For more information see:
