PHP error shown when trying to create Dell Updates smart label using the smart label wizard (4326828)

Option 1

• Create Dell smart label using a smaller query using the Wizard and replace the SQL query
  1. Go to Security | Dell Updates | Catalog
  2. Select "Smart Label"
  3. Target a single item on the catalog using the driver name to get a label with a small amount of items
  4. Type a name for the Label and save it
  5. Go to Home | Label Management | Smart Labels
  6. Select the smart label created before
  7. Select "Edit SQL", delete the SQL query found in there and paste the SQL query that you got from the wizard
  8. Save changes.

Option 2   

Duplicate an existing Dell Update Smart Label and replace the SQL query.

• Get the SQL query from the Smart Label Wizard
  1. Go to Security | Dell Updates | Catalog
  2. Select "Smart Label"
  3. Add the parameters required for your Smart Label.
  4. Select "Test" to run the query and show the results below.
  5. Select "Choose Action"
  6. Select "Create Report" from the dropdown menu.
  7. Copy the complete SQL query from the field "SQL". (The SQL query is going to be required on next set of steps) 

• Create a manual label
  1. Go to Home | Label Management | Labels
  2. Select "Choose Action"
  3. Select "New Manual Label" from the dropdown menu.
  4. Type a name for the label.
  5. Under "Restrict Label Usage To" select "Dell Updates"
  6. Save the manual Label. (The manual label is going to be required later to link it to the duplicate smart label)

   

   

• Duplicate an existing Dell Update Smart Label and replace the SQL query

  1. Go to Home | Label Management | Labels
  2. Select "View By" | Usage | Dell Updates
  3. Select a smart label from the list. One with less items would be better. (Smart labels have an icon that looks like a funnel next to the amount of items contained in the label)
  4. In "Label Detail" screen make sure that Label Usage is set to "Dell Updates"
  5. Scroll down and Select "Smart Labels (1)"
  6. Select "Dell Update Smart Label"
  7. In "Smart Label Detail" Make sure that Item Type is set to "Dell Update" and select "+ Edit SQL"
  8. Select "Duplicate"
  9. Under "Assigned Label:(required)" select the manual label created before
  10. Delete the SQL query in place and paste the SQL query that you got from the Wizard
  11. Save the label (It might take a couple of minutes to save it) 

Option 3

Create a manual label using  the results from Smart Label Wizard

1. Go to Security | Dell Updates | Catalog
2. Select "Smart Label"
3. Add the parameters required for the label
4. Select "Test" to get the results below
5. Select "Show" at the right bottom of the screen and select "1000"
   
6. Select the Checkbox to the left of "Status" to select all items from the Query.
7. Select "Choose Action"
8. Select "Add Label" in the dropdown menu
9. Add a name to the label
10. Select "Add Label"
    • If you have more than 1000 entries, go to the next page of results and apply the same label.
      • Select "Next" at the bottom of the screen to get to the next page.
      • Select "Choose Action"
      • Select "Apply labels"
      • Select the same label added before on step 10 from the labels list.
        ("Add label" is used to create a new label, "Apply Label" is used to apply an existing label).
      • Repeat this process until all drivers are added to the manual label.
        (This is manual label and is not going to updated automatically when a new Dell Update package is downloaded to the Kace SMA like a smart label).

Once the label is created, apply the label to the Dell Update job required and proceed with the deployment.
