The below errors may occur when using the Express option to install Recovery Manager for Active Directory:
"Failed to create SQL Database"
"Error 214746259"
"Unknown error"
"Cannot verify Microsoft SQL Server installation. For detailed information, see the SQL Server setup logs. For more information on how to view and read SQL Server setup log files, see the SQL Server online documentation."
This will end the setup of Recovery Manager prematurely. If SQL Express is installed manually, it will produce an "Access Denied" error message.
The Account running the installation will require the below permissions in the local security policy:
Local Policies\User Rights Assignment\Backup files and directories
Local Policies\User Rights Assignment\Debug Programs
Local Policies\User Rights Assignment\Manage auditing and security log
The below Microsoft KB article outlines this installation issue with SQL Server:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2000257
If the RMAD install still fails after SQL Express is installed, and UAC is enabled on the RMAD server, you may need to provide elevated access to the DATA and LOGS folders found in the SQL Express installation directory.
