SQL workbench getting error "Host is blocked because of many connections errors; unblock with 'mysqladmin flush-hosts'"
Description
When using a third party SQL workbench like Mysql Workbench, you get the following error message when trying to connect to the appliance on port 3306 using R users "Host xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is blocked because of many connections errors; unblock with 'mysqladmin flush-hosts'"
Resolution
Note: user connected to the appliances DB will be disconnected, please advise them to log back in once completed
Please follow below steps to solve this issue:
Log in to the admin console (system console in case of MultiOrg)
Go to Settings | Security Settings
Uncheck "Enable database access" (this will disable it)
Click the "Save and restart services button" (will not reboot appliance)
once the services complete restarting, users should not have access to the DB
Check "Enable database access" (this will enable it)
Click the "Save and restart services button" (will not reboot appliance)
once the services complete restarting, users should have access once more to the DB
Test the connection using a SQL workbench (in this example mysql workbench)
