Description
RMAD console gives "Failed to start backup: Internal error. Invalid cache item."
ERDServer.log will contain:
Debug TRACE WORKFLOW AddCacheItem begin:Error Throwing TException:Error Internal error. Invalid cache item. -
Cause
This might happen when DC has not been properly demoted and
CN=<dc hostname>,CN=Servers,CN=,CN=Sites,CN=Configuration,DC=contoso,DC=Microsoft,DC=com
Has empty dNSHostName attribute.

Resolution
AD attribute has to be properly populated if this DC is active or invalid DC has to be removed from collection.
This can also occur when there is a non-DC computer in the "Domain Controllers" OU, and the Domain Controllers OU has been added to the collection.
Backlog item has been raised to display more clear error.
