How to create a Reboot KScript for Windows-based machines (4277140)

Perform the following steps, in order to create a Offline KScript "Reboot a Windows-based system".

1. Go to Scripting | Scripts and select New from the Choose Action dropdown menu
2. Provide the necessary information in the Configure section:
   • Provide a relevant name for easy recognition (e.g. Reboot a Windows-based System)
   • Select the Enabled checkbox, to have this KScript active
   • Select Offline KScript from the Type dropdown box
   • Select Production from the Status dropdown box
   • Optional: provide a short description in the Description field
   • Optional: provide some detailed information in the Notes field
3. Configure the Deploy section as follows:
   • Do not select the All Devices option. The focus of this script will be on a single machine or a small group of machines.
   • Do not provide any labels in the Labels section.
   • Select and add the IP Addresses or hostnames of the machines into the Devices field.
   • Do not select the Select Specific Operating Systems checkbox
   • Select Microsoft Windows from the Operating System listbox.
4. Configure the Schedule section as follows:
   • Leave the option None as default.
   • Select the Allow run without a logged-in user checkbox
   • Leave all other options, within the Schedule section, unselected as default
5. No file will be added as an dependency
6. Configure the Tasks section as follows:
   • Optional: provide a number in the Attempts text box
   • Recommended: leave or change the On Failure option to Break
   • In the On Success section, add a new step "Launch a program"
   • In the Directory text box, enter the following: $(KACE_SYS_DIR)
   • In the File text box, enter the following: shutdown.exe
   • Do not select the Wait for completion checkbox
   • In the Parameters text box, enter the following: /r /t 90 /f /d P:5:19
   • The sections (Verify, Remediation, On Remediation Success and On Remediation Failure) are not needed and used in this procedure.
   • Once done, click the Save Changes button to save the changes
7. If the selected managed machines are provided in step 3, then the KScript can be started by selecting the Run Now button. This option will also save the Offline KScript, which will be announced with a information window. Otherwise, click on the Save button to save it for later usage.

The shutdown.exe component is part of the Microsoft Operating System.
