How can the Full Text Index search be optimized?
Full text index may need optimization for better search performance.
Before starting to optimize the index it must be ensured that there is three times more free space on the hard drive than the actual size of the whole index folder.
If for example the index folder size is 500 MB there should be at least 1.5 GB free space on the drive where Index folder is located.
To perform Full Text Index search optimization do the following:
1. Stop the Archive Manager Full Text Index service
2. Open Task Manager.
3. Verify these child processes are stopped and no longer running.
- ftiattachmentworker.exe
- ifilterhost.exe
4. From a command prompt change directories to the Archive Manager application directory (by default this is C:Program FilesArchiveManager) and run the following command: "Archive Full Text Index Service.exe" -optimize
5. When finished close the command prompt
6. Start the Archive Manager Full Text Index Service and the Restart the Archive Manager Full Text Search Service
Starting with version 4.6 there is no longer a requirement to Optimize the Index as this is done on a constant basis automatically.
