The reasons for stopping an agent task could include tasks that need to be shut down in the process of troubleshooting or to stop a deployed patching schedule that was accidentally configured to deploy the wrong selected group of agents.
Resolution
Go to Support | Settings and click on Display agent task status. Then search for the task via computer name. Select the task(s) you want to stop by checking the box(es) next to each and choose the option to delete.
