There are two workarounds to this issue
WORKAROUND 1
1. Stop your Full Text Index and Full Text Search services

3. Rename Segments.new to Segments
4. Start the Full Text Index and Full Text Search services
5. Run IISReset
This should mean the Index carries on where it left off and the Searches start working again.
