Replication is running slower than expected with a warning that CBT is failing. (4046280)

Although replication jobs are completing successfully, they are running slower than expected. The following Warning is present in the task logs of all replicating vms.
The change block filter failed on /vmfs/volumes/Primary/VmName/Vmname-flat.vmdk
VRanger 5.x running on a windows “XP” machine.

SHA256CryptoServiceProvider is not supported on XP

The following is a workaround, but requires that you edit the registry of you vRanger server.
Please backup you vRanger server and your registry before making these changes.

1. Ensure you have SP3 installed on your vRanger XP machine.
2. Backup your registry.
3. Go to registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\Defaults\Provider, find its subkey named "Microsoft Enhanced RSA and AES Cryptographic Provider (Prototype)",
4. export it to .reg, edit this .reg and delete " (Prototype)" from its name. When you import it back, the original key will be duplicated to the new key without (Prototype), with the same contents.
5. From now on, SHA256CryptoServiceProvider will work on this XPSP3 machine.
