Description
When attempting to replicate a VM, the job errors with error message: An internal error occured during execution, please contact Vizioncore support if the error persists. Error Message: 2088 - can't open phys:/vmfs/volume/datastore/vmdirectory/prdmdisk.vmdk [at open_source:268]

Cause
The problem occurs when attempting to replicate a physical Raw Disk Mapping (RDM).

Resolution
The snapshot method is disabled for physical RDMs and as a result a replication job will not replicate the physical RDM. vRanger can however replicate a virtual RDM. If you wish to replicate the RDM, you must first configure it as a virtual RDM.
To configure as a virtual RDM:
- Open vSphere Client
- Power down the VM in question
- Next, right click on the VM
- Click Edit settings
- Highlight the vmdk and select virtual
- Click Ok to save, next restart VM
