Restoring a Hyper-V virtual machine fails with error System Error Code: 55 (4042965)

• When attempting to restore a virtual machine to a Hyper-V host fails with the following error:

An error occurred while authenticating the user to the specified location using the supplied credentials. (System Error Code: 55)

• The wizard doesn't allow you to select a different path for the virtual machine restore. 
• The path that is shown in the wizard does not exist and it doesn't reflect the original destination of the virtual machine. 

When using the restore wizard for Hyper-V virtual machines, vRanger will use the same default location for the VHD and the VM folders configured within the Hyper-V hosts. If the path doesn't exist, Windows will throw an authentication-related error. In addition to this, if the Quest Hyper-V agent service doesn't have access to the folder, it may throw authentication errors as well. 

You can safely change the default values by doing the following:

1. In the global Actions pane of Hyper-V Manager click Hyper-V Settings…
2. Under Virtual Hard Disks change the location from the default to your desired location.
3. Under Virtual Machines change the location from the default to your desired location and click apply.
