BMR fails with timeout error or hangs forever when restoring large volumes -
Description
When restoring a large volume, using a BootCD, the BMR process fails with timeout error or hangs forever. -
Cause
The issue has been identified as defect RR-110684. The defect will be evaluated by our Product Team for inclusion in a future release of Rapid Recovery.A list of "Resolved Issues" is published in the product Release Notes accompanying new releases that can be referenced to identify if a fix for this defect has been implemented. Resolution
Workaround 1 (Only applicable if large volume does not contain OS files):
- Restore all other volumes, except the one that is failing or hanging.
- Boot the machine and protect it on the core console
- Perform a Live Restore of the volume in question. - How to Perform a Rollback with Live Recovery of a Data Volume (184595)
Workaround 2:
- Download Rapid Recovery BootCD from the link below
- Rapid Recovery BootCD download.
- Follow the normal BMR process. Restore should now be successful
NOTE: This BootCD may not contain all the necessary drivers to perform the restore (storage or network drivers for example) and may need to be loaded from the URC (Understanding the Rapid Recovery Universal Recovery Console (184593))
