Description
Linux FLR. Ranger VA is deployed. Save Point resides in DDBoost Repository. -
Cause
Access to DDBoost is provisioned in Data Domain by hostnames. During deployment when VA display name is defined, it is assumed that the VA hostname will be set the same way.
This is not true and VA is deployed with vzva hostname (as of Ranger 7.1.1).

Resolution
Set VA hostname in /etc/sysconfig/network file.

Additional Information
The same issue will affect both backup and restore if: 1. job is defined (either automatically or explicitly) to use VA transport; 2. Datadomain (set as either CIFS or DDBoost repo) authenticates clients by the hostname.
