When I run a VA based backup, the backups render the following error, while running off the physical vRanger server works OK. Error Message 2712 - cant create the directory CIFS:zzz;username@XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX/Repository/..... " Repository is local to the physical vRanger server.
Generally this is a resolution issue between the VA and the repository. The VA needs access to write to the repository weather it is local to the vRanger physical server or an attached NAS/SAN device.
If the physical vRanger server has 2 NIC's they may be in the wrong binding order.
1. Ping the vRanger server from the virtual appliance console. Does it resolve the name and IP correctly?
2. Ping the same name from the vRanger physical server. Is the same (correct) IP coming up?
If the vRanger server is resolving a different NIC, try reversing the binding order, reboot and rerun the job. You can also change the repository to use an IP address instead of a name of the machine that hosts the repository.
