When restoring a single Exchange calendar, original events are restored, but none of the recurring ones are.
AppAssure captures and assembles data by sectors. When an entire volume is restored, all calendar events have their proper associations. Therefore, browsing the recovery point shows the orignal events and their recurring events.
However, when restoring only items from one mailbox, those child events are not associated because they are not stored the same folder as mailbox’s calendar. Exchange stores the original event instance as a master (parent) from the user’s mailbox. Recurring events are children stored in other tables.
The Microsoft Exchange Calendar Repair Assistant (CRA) will correct inconsistencies in your calendar items. CRA changes recurring (child) events into master (parent) events.
Run the CRA prior to taking snapshots. Recurring events will be stored in the user’s mailbox. All events will be restored together.
To configure the CRA, run the cmdlet set-mailboxserver in the Exchange Management Shell. Turn the CRA on or off for a particular mailbox with the cmdlet set-mailbox.
