vRanger Quest RDA integration (4033104)

The Quest DR Series disk-based data protection appliances optimize storage utilization and reduce network bandwidth requirements with in-line deduplication, compression, and deduplicated replication.

The Quest DR Series supports CIFS, NFS, and RDA protocols. The RDA protocol provides a logical disk interface for the DR Series system, and enables better coordination and integration between vRanger and the DR Series system and provides for client-side deduplication of vRanger backups.

Note: It is recommended to use the RDA protocol when using a Quest DR Series system as a repository.

RDA uses ports 11000 and 10011.

The process for adding a Quest Rapid Data Access (RDA) Repository is described below.

Once you have logged into the DR appliance,

• Expand the Storage section and select Containers
• Click on Create
• Enter the Container Name and select RDA as the connection type.
• Click on Create a New Container to finish the process.

Within the vRanger Interface:

• Right click on the My Repository window and select Add > Rapid Data Access (RDA).
• Enter the RDA Repository details.
  • The default RDA user name is backup_user.
  • The default RDA password is St0r@ge!
  • The Logical Storage Unit is the container that was created on the DR4x00.
• Click Ok

Run you backup task to verify that the Repository has been set up correctly.
