How To - Size Report (4274037)

UPDATE: Starting on version 13.2, the Size Report is now built-in the Diagnostic Utilities, within the SMA configuration report:

1. Go to Settings | Support.
2. Run diagnostic utilities
3. Select "SMA configuration report" from the dropdown
4. Click Run Now

This will instantly provide the report as an HTML download. Scroll down to the Appliance Disk Information  and Appliance files greater than 100MB Information sections for details.

If on a version prior to 13.2, follow the instructions below:

How to use the size report:

1. Download the Kbin that corresponds to the SMA's version found below
2. Go to Settings | Appliance Updates
3. Locate 'Manually Update' and then select Choose File
4. After selecting the kbin, select Update

If Samba is enabled:

• A file named sizereport.txt can be reviewed by accessing the client share (ex. \\hostname\client)

(Note Samba can be enabled in Settings|Security Settings)

If Samba is disabled:

• A file named sizereport.txt will be created in the backups directory which can be accessed via FTP.

(Note FTP must be enabled in Settings|Security Settings)

NOTE: Replace "hostname" for the SMA's hostname or IP address.

FTP

Using a command prompt:

1. Open a cmd prompt and change to a directory this user has permissions to access (eg: c:\Users\USERNAME\Desktop - where USERNAME is the actual name of the user OR another example could be c:\Users\USERNAME\Downloads)
2. Once in an accessible directory, type: ftp hostname 
3. Type "kbftp" for the username and hit enter
4. Type "getbxf" for the password and hit enter

NOTE: The password above is the default password if Make FTP writable is enabled in the Security Settings of the SMA and did not enter a password. If this default password does not work it is because a new password was added.

Click Settings|Security Settings. Type the new password in New FTP user password box and scroll down and click Save and Restart Services.

This Action will restart the services on the SMA!

5. Type "type binary" and hit enter
6. Type "get sizereport.txt" (Note that the file was successfully transferred to the directory used in step 1 of these instructions)
7. Type "quit"

Using an FTP Client:

• Hostname: IP or Hostname of the SMA
• Username: kbftp
• Password: getbxf

NOTE: The password above is the default password if Make FTP writable in the Security Settings of the SMA is enabled and did not enter a password. If this default password does not work it is because a new password was added.

Click Settings|Security Settings. Type the new password in New FTP user password box and scroll down and click Save and Restart Services.

This Action will restart the services on the SMA!

• Port: Not necessary (may be requested by some FTP clients)
• Locate the sizereport.txt file and transfer it to a local or network location
