We wanted to make you aware of an identified issue with the virtual NICs hosted in VMWARE vSphere Hypervisor. This could affect customers that are in version 11.0, 11.1 or 12.0 of the SMA.
This issue may cause a vmxnet3 vNIC to become inaccessible post a Virtual machine migration using the VMOTION feature. Customers affected by this will not be able to access the appliance web portal unless the appliance gets rebooted.
Switching the Virtual NIC from vmxnet3 to e1000e provides a temporary resolution to the current situation.
If you host your SMA, you can download a new OVF that includes the e1000e from the support site and create a new instance and migrate from the old instance (How to migrate database between multiple SMAs (K1000s)). Note: you MUST be on ESX version 6.7 (KACE SMA 10.x VMware 6.7 Requirement Explained)
If you are part of the hosted SMA with KACE as a Service, please contact our technical support department.
We will continue to investigate a vmxnet3 resolution and will update this KB article once a permanent resolution is determined.
