To replace the media database when using SmartDisk
On steps 5 & 6 we suggest that you do not delete the file, but to rename. If you delete the file there is no going back in case of any issues. The files can be deleted later when everything is properly working again.

Open the NetVault console/Device Manager. Note the names of the tape Libraries and SmartDisk installations or take a screen shot of Device Manager.

While in Device Manager right click on the tape drive,

Choose the Performance tab: note the transfer buffer size for each of the tape drives “Amount of memory assign for transfer buffers”.

On the Configuration tab note the serial number for each tape drive and drive assignment.

Close the NetVault console

Stop the NetVault service in the NVconfigurator and close the NVconfigurator

Rename the “foundationmachines.dat” file located in “~/netvault/etc/foundationmachines.dat”.

Rename the MediaDatabase located in “ ~/netvault/db/MediaDatabase”

Restart the NetVault service in the NVconfigurator

Re-add the tape libraries and re-add the SmartDisk installation using the names discovered in step 1.

Set the transfer buffers for each of physical tape drives

Scan in the tapes in the tape library and scan in the SmartDisk
