The following article contains a tutorial video that describes how to set up Spotlight Essentials for Toad for SQL Server.
Overview -
Next is the installation of a Diagnostic Server service, which will be used to upload the information to the Spotlight Essentials site.
The next screen that will be displayed is the installation screen. Click the Install button and follow through that wizard. Then, come back to the installation screen to point to where this is located, regardless of whether it is local or remote. Once done, select OK and be done with this portion.
From the installation wizard, choose either the local machine installation or a remote machine that the service should operate off of. Using a remote machine may be a better selection, if there is a machine that is always on and available to do the collections and uploads from the SQL Servers to the Spotlight Essentials site.
The default installation folder is C:\Program Files\Dell\Toad for SQL Server Diagnostic Server\, but a different installation folder can be browsed to and choosen, if desired.
To install this service, select a domain user account, if connecting to a database on the network, or a local system account, if using only a local SQL Server to monitor and upload from.
The installation will create three User groups and the Server Account you are installing with will be the default user.
The three groups are Diagnostic Administrators, Diagnostic Users, and Diagnostic Read Only Users
Extra user can be added or removed in all groups at this time or through the Windows Group Administration tools.
After the installation is complete a Finish Screen appears.
Any install errors will appear in the area of the screen shown here.
All of what was done can be checked and verified in the services themselves on the machine that you performed the installation on.
As an additional exercise, the user groups can be checked and verified in the Computer Management | Local Users and Groups window, on the machine that you performed the installation on.
Double clicking on any of the groups will show the member name. If there are other users that require access to be given or denied to them, they can be added or removed through this window.
That is all that is covered in this video. The next step is to configure your connections and use the Spotlight Essentials site to view your uploaded information.
