When importing catalogue, Toad Data Point throws the following error:
"Toad for Data Analyst has stopped working"
From the Connection Manager for DB2, the following error is displayed:
"Please install DB2 Client 8.1.6 or later"
The Toad Data Point DB2 client (called TACOM<version>) is not installed properly due to rights issue. For example, the client could be installed in the Program Files directory but the registry not written to.
1. Check to see if TACOM<version> is installed from the Start | Program Files | IBM DB2 and even if it is try to launch the Client Interface Selection Wizard and see if it launches.
2. If there is an issue launching any of the TACOM tools, checked the registry to see if the Toad installed IBM registry is there. Registry location is: HKEY_CURRENT_USER | Software | IBM | DB2 | InstalledCopies, and there should be a registry key for TACOM<version>.
Note: If the install is a 32-bit Toad on Windows 64-bit, be sure to check the IBM registry node under the WOW6432Node and see if the registry info is there or if the following error is thrown when accessing the registry "DB2 cannot be opened.” The registry location is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE | Software | Wow6432Node | IBM | DB2 | InstalledCopies.
3. If registry info is missing and/or there is an access issue, resolve the Windows user rights issue before re-installing Toad.
