BlackBerry Server Health Test

The BlackBerry Server Health test allows you to monitor the basic health of all your BlackBerry servers. This test allows you to monitor the following types of information:

•
Network availability
•
Operating system disk space usage
•
Any Performance Counter
•
Any Windows service
•
Any Event Log entry

The BlackBerry Server Health Test monitors BlackBerry 4 Enterprise, BlackBerry 4 Configuration, BlackBerry 5 Enterprise, and BlackBerry 5 Configuration servers.

All SQL-related performance counters for BlackBerry configuration database servers target the SQL Server Enterprise version of SQL (unnamed instance). Any BlackBerry configuration database servers that are installed on the named instance of the SQL server.will show a grey icon for the test results. The Error details will specify that the object is unavailable - the performance counter is either uninstalled or disabled.

To monitor BlackBerry configuration database servers installed on a named instance of SQL server, replace the SQL-related performance counters with corresponding performance counters for the named instance. For more information, see the Troubleshooting section of the Unified Communications Diagnostics Deployment Guide.

Enable WMI on each BlackBerry server

NOTE: WMI is required to support retrieving accurate disk space information when using mount points. If you do not use mounts, you can disable the requirement for WMI by clicking the Data Collection options link in the Server Health Test wizard.

BlackBerry Message Delivery Health Test

Use the BlackBerry Message Delivery Health test to monitor the overall message delivery health between your Exchange organization and your BlackBerry devices. The test tracks the time it takes for an email message to be sent and returned by sending a test message from a source mailbox to one or more target BlackBerry devices or to BlackBerry simulators.

If the source mailbox is hosted on an Exchange 2010 or later mailbox database, the Exchange organization must have at least one available Exchange 2010 or 2013 CAS server or one Exchange 2016 Mailbox server on the same site as the server that hosts the active mailbox database copy.

You manually create test mailboxes required for this test. You can reuse test mailboxes created for the Exchange health tests as the source mailbox.

The BlackBerry message delivery health test is not performed on standby BlackBerry servers. Test results show a status of Skipped for these servers.

Creating test mailboxes for Exchange

Dedicated test mailboxes must be created to run the following tests:

•
Internal Server Delivery Health - requires at least one mailbox per server
•
Internal Mailbox Delivery Health - requires source and destination mailbox pairs
•
External Message Delivery Health - requires one source mailbox
•
Modern Message Delivery Health - requires source and destination mailbox pairs for internal delivery test and source mailbox for external delivery test.
•
Internal OWA Availability Health
•
Exchange 2007 - requires at least one mailbox
•
External OWA Availability Health - requires test account with mailbox
•
Internal Mailbox Delivery Health - one or more test mailboxes on each mailbox database
Recommendation

It is recommended that you create test mailboxes for the tests that are only used for UC Diagnostics. Use the scripts provided to create these test mailboxes.
