Toad allows you to connect to an Apache Cassandra database, a NoSQL data source, to view and query tables.
After creating a connection, see About Business Intelligence and NoSQL Data Sources for more information about this data source.
Note: This feature is available in the Toad Data Point Professional Edition only.
To create a Cassandra connection
Enter the connection information in the Create New Connection dialog. Review the following for additional information:
|Host||Enter the host server name or IP address.|
If Use legacy Thrift API is selected, the default is 9160. Otherwise, the default is 9042.
If different, enter port number.
|Use SSL||(CQL API connections only) Select to use SSL to connect to Cassandra.|
|Use legacy Thrift API||
Select to connect to a non-CQL-enabled Cassandra version using the legacy Thrift API connection (port 9160).
Clear this option to use the CQL API connection (port 9042).
|Keyspace||Enter the name of the keyspace to use in this connection.|
|Username||Enter the user name to use when connecting.|
Enter the password to use when connecting.
Tip: After connecting, you can set a master password to further secure your connection in Tools | Options| Environment | Security.
|Category||(Optional) Select an existing category or create a new one. |
Note: In NoSQL and Business Intelligence connections, Toad automatically saves the password in the connections.xml file as obfuscated text, as well as in Toad. To add additional password security, use Toad's Master Password feature.
