About this release

Quest NetVault Backup (NetVault Backup) Plug‑in for VMware (Plug‑in for VMware) 11.4 is a minor release, with enhanced features and functionality. For complete product documentation, visit https://support.quest.com/technical-documents.

New features

New features in Plug‑in for VMware 11.4:
•
Added support for Windows Server 2016. (DNVMWARE-1716, 32841)
•
Added support for VMware vSphere Storage Policy Based Management (SPBM) with VMware Virtual Volumes (VVols) and VMware vSAN. (DNVMWARE-1709, 32616)
•
Added support for deleting a virtual machine so that you can restore it to its original location. (DNVMWARE-1714, 32805)

Enhancements

The following is a list of enhancements implemented in Plug‑in for VMware 11.4.

Issue ID

Improved the restore process for a renamed virtual machine to assign a new universally unique identifier (UUID) to the restored virtual machine. This eliminates the previous workaround that required you to rename the virtual machine, and move the it to a different datastore.

DNVMWARE-1707 (32609)

Added log messages for backup jobs to identify a “List of virtual machine failed to backup” and a “List of virtual machine whose backup completed with warnings, when applicable. Improved the backup process to prevent backups from completing when the index cannot be written.

DNVMWARE-1715 (32827)
