Before you begin

Take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the components that come with an appliance, the components you may need to supply, and the ports and other elements on the rear panel of an appliance.

Each appliance come with the following components:

Other network components required

You need to supply the following components:

•

Private switch — used as a hub for connecting all the appliances in your monitoring solution

•

Network taps — used to connect Sniffers’ monitoring ports to the network so that the Sniffers can monitor live web traffic crossing the tap point

•

Network cables — for the appliance, at least two per appliance plus one for each Sniffer monitoring port that is connected to a network tap

•

USB keyboard — required for the initial setup process

•

VGA monitor and cable — required for the initial setup process
