Editing scripts

When editing a script, you can change the selected script, create a new script, and optionally modify the execution criteria.
To edit a script:

Expand Scripts.

In the row containing the script you want to edit, click Edit .

In the Edit Script dialog box, edit the options as required.

Click Save.

Creating new scripts on the fly

You can create new scripts on the fly from the Add Scripts dialog box. To remove a script that you create here, go to the Scripts view on the Traffic Analysis dashboard.

IMPORTANT: Before creating a new script, you should take some time to determine your requirements and plan your script. See Managing scripts.
To create a script from an analyzer:

Expand Scripts.

In the Scripts view, click Add.

In the Add Script dialog box, click New.

In the Add Script (traffic analysis-level) dialog box, complete the options. For help with options, see Defining scripts.

Click Edit Script.

In the Edit Script dialog box, write your script. For an example of a script, see Creating scripts.

To reference a custom field, metric, hit analyzer, or sequence analyzer in your script, see Referencing configuration objects in a script.

If you want to add a regular expression, you can test it first. See Testing regular expressions.

When you finish writing the script, click Done to return to the Edit Script dialog box.

Click Test Script.

In the Test Script dialog box, provide real data and expected results.

Click Execute Test.

Verify that your test results match the expected results. If not, you need to modify your script.

Click Cancel to return to the Edit Script dialog box.

If necessary, modify your script based on your test results and rerun the test.

Click Save.
The new script appears in the Scripts list.

Adding hit storage restrictions

To add a hit storage restriction policy:

Expand Hit Storage Restrictions.

In the Hit Storage Restriction view, click Add.

In the Add Hit Storage Restriction dialog box, complete the options. For help with options, see Defining hit storage restrictions for hit analyzers.

Click Save.
The policy appears in the Hit Storage Restriction table.

Editing hit storage restrictions

To edit a hit storage restriction policy:

Expand Hit Storage Restrictions.

In the row containing the policy you want to edit, click Edit .

In the Edit Hit Storage Restriction dialog box, edit the options as required. For help with options, see Defining hit storage restrictions for hit analyzers.

Click Save.
The policy’s details are updated in the table.
