Emailing a Security Dashboard

Emailing a Security Dashboard

You can share a snapshot of dashboard through email, send it to multiple users, and configure the frequency of email.

To email a dashboard,

1.
Click the icon to open the dashboard settings panel.
2.
Click the Email Dashboard option to open the Email Dashboard panel.
3.
Select appropriate option from the given options:
a.
Send Now: You can send an email immediately.
b.
Schedule: You can set the frequency of sending a snapshot of dashboard through email.

The detailed steps for each option are given below:

Send email now

To send email immediately,

1.
Click Send Now to open the Email Dashboard dialog.
2.
Enter details in the Email Address, Subject, and Message fields.
3.
Choose the layout in which you want the widgets to appear.
4.
Click Send.

The dashboard is sent through email.

Schedule

To set the frequency of sending a snapshot of dashboard through email,

1.
Click Schedule to open the Schedule dialog.
2.
Enter details in the Subject and Message fields.
3.
Choose the layout in which you want the widgets to appear.
4.
To add recipients, select the names from the Select user to add drop down list.

NOTE: You can add multiple recipients from the list.
5.
Select the frequency from the drop down list.
6.
In the Next Run field that appears after you select the Frequency, set the date, month, and time for the next email delivery.
7.
Click Save. The dashboard is sent through email according to the set schedule.

Refreshing Security Dashboard Data Manually

You can refresh the widgets data to show the latest results on the dashboard.

To update the widgets,

1.
Click the icon to open the dashboard settings panel.
2.
Click Force Refresh to open the Confirm dialog box.
3.
Click Yes to confirm refresh all widget data on the dashboard.

Best practices for patching

Patch management is the process of obtaining, testing, and installing patches for software on devices. The appliance enables you to automate patch management, which helps to improve software functionality and protect devices and networks from vulnerabilities.

With patch management you can detect and deploy the latest security patches and software updates for Windows and Mac devices that use the appliance.

NOTE: The Patch Management component is supported on Windows and Mac devices only. Patch Management is not available for Linux devices.

Patching workflow

Patching workflow

Patching workflow includes subscribing to patches, selecting patch download settings, using labels to identify patches and the devices to be patched, and scheduling patching jobs.

The patching workflow includes the following tasks.

Subscribing to the patches that you want to download. If the Organization component is installed on your appliance, you set subscription settings for each organization separately. Additional workflow details are available for first-time patch subscription. See Subscribing to patches and configuring download settings.
•
Selecting patch download settings on the Patch Subscription Settings page. See Select patch and feature update download settings.
•
Creating Smart Labels to group devices for patching and patches for deployment. See Using Smart Labels for patching.
•
Creating patching schedules to detect and deploy packages. If the Organization component is installed on your appliance, you create patch schedules for each organization separately. See Configuring patch schedules.

Signature files for patches you subscribe to are downloaded to the appliance from Quest. Patch packages are downloaded from Quest and from software vendors.
