Log Reader - View DML and DDL Commands

The DML/DDL page displays the DML and DDL commands that were executed on the database for the selected log files. The Log Reader can reconstruct these commands from log records, giving you the option to undo or redo individual commands or to roll back an entire transaction.

To view the DML and DDL commands executed in the database

1. Run the Read Log Wizard. For more information, see Read Transaction Logs.

2. Select the DML/DDL page in the Log Reader window. Log Reader displays the following information about the log entries on this page:

   • The command that was executed.
   • The object affected by the execution.
   • The timestamp for the command execution.
   • The parent table for operations with dependencies.
   • The ID for the transaction in which the command was executed.

3. Navigate through and organize the log record entries to help you locate the information you need to review. Use any of these methods:

   • Navigate through the log entries using the navigation bar at the bottom of the list.
   • Sort the list in ascending order by a specific column by clicking the column heading. Click the column heading again to reverse the sort order.
   • Group like entries in the list. See Group Entries for more information.

   • Find entries. See Find Entries for more information.

4. Select a specific entry to view additional information:

   Tab	Description
   Record Data	Column name, column type, and values affected by the statement.
   User Info	Information about the user and application that made the change. Note: The Log Reader can collect NT User, SQL Login, User Host, and Application information for transactions started only when it is connected to the server.
   Undo SQL	T-SQL to undo the action.
   Redo SQL	T-SQL to redo the action.

5. (Optional) Undo or redo one or more selected commands or rollback a transaction. For more information, see Undo or Redo DML or DDL Commands.
