Archive Manager 5.9.3 - Installation and Configuration Guide for GroupWise

Distributed model

The Archive Manager distributed model is best used when an organization has connected sites with more than 100 users at each, or low-bandwidth connections with potentially fewer users.

To estimate the requirements of different site configurations, see the Hardware recommendations chapter.

Mixed model

Archive Manager can also be run as a combination of the preceding models. This is useful, for example, when the distributed model is not applicable, as with a satellite site of 50 users with no email server, which does not require a dedicated Archive Manager server.

Archive Manager can be considered a “thin client” solution because it uses a Web browser for access.

Installing without Active Directory

It is possible to install Archive Manager in an environment without Active Directory, where the Archive Manager server and SQL server are parts of a workgroup, using pass-through authentication. But without a central authenticating authority like AD, a configuration like this increases the risk of authentication issues as the Archive Manager, SQL, and web services servers try to interact.
