SMTP Server fails to send Email Notification -

After configuring SMTP settings in the UI, Core | Configuration | Settings | SMTP Server, sending a test email may result with the following error:

Causa
2-step verification is not setup on your mail server. After you configure 2-step verification, use the Application password generated during 2-step verification as the password for the account you want to use for SMTP notification.
This KB will discuss 2-step verification for Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook.

To enable 2-step verification for Gmail, please complete the following steps:
- Follow this link to Gmail's 2-step verification wizard - https://www.google.com/landing/2step/
- Log into your Gmail account.
- Start the wizard and follow the prompts.
- Gmail will generate the Application password and present it to you.
- Gmail also recommends that you change your Gmail password to the Application password.
Use the application password in the Core UI SMTP settings dialogue box when prompted.
NOTE: The Application password needs to be changed to your current Gmail password
To enable 2-step verification for Outlook, please complete the following steps:
- Follow this link to Outlook's 2-step verification wizard - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/two-step-verification-faq
- Log into your Outlook account.
- Start the wizard and follow the prompts.
- Outlook will generate the Application password and present it to you.
- Outlook also recommends that you change your Outlook App Password to the Application password.
Use the application password in the Core UI SMTP settings dialogue box when prompted.
NOTE: The Application password needs to be changed to your current Outlook password
To enable 2-step verification for Yahoo, please complete the following steps:
- Follow this link to Yahoo's 2-step verification wizard - Yahoo Application Password.
- Log into your Yahoo account.
- Start the wizard and follow the prompts.
- Yahoo will generate the Application password and present it to you.
- Yahoo also recommends that you change your Gmail password to the Application password.
NOTE: noreply@localhost.com can’t be set as the ‘From’ field value for yahoo SMTP server. When sending an email from a Yahoo account (smtp.mail.yahoo.com), you should use a [reply and from] Yahoo email address.
Use the application password in the Core UI SMTP settings dialogue box when prompted.
