Customer uses a static collection to provision distribution groups to AD. After removing a distribution group from the collection and deleting it in AD, a scheduled run recreated the group, even though it no longer appears in the collection. Running Provision Groups manually did not recreate the group; the issue only occurred with the scheduled operation.
When you create a schedule from the Groups Provisioning Wizard, MNE saves a task definition that includes the state of the selected collection at that moment (a snapshot). Scheduled executions replay that saved definition on each run. Subsequent edits to the collection do not update previously created schedules. Manual runs invoke a new, one-time task that reads the collection’s current membership.
Remove or disable the existing schedule
• Open Manage Scheduled Operations and disable or delete the scheduled task associated with the affected collection.
Recreate the schedule after collection changes
• Once all collection updates are complete, rerun the Groups Provisioning Wizard and create a new schedule.
• This new schedule will reflect the current state of the collection.
Operational guidance for changing collections
• If membership changes frequently, either recreate the schedule after each change or run Provision Groups manually when immediate alignment is required.
• After recreating the schedule, validate by deleting one test group in AD and confirming that a scheduled run does not recreate it unless it is again present in the collection.
