Are there any quick steps when configuring the RUM for the first usage?
Information below should be seen as some suggestions or recommendations, not as official instructions.
For more details please see the QMM User Guide. As first step in QMM AD in left side pane navigate to Resource Processing - Tasks and then in right side window press on Resource Updating Manager URL or on the big icon. When RUM opens navigate to Tools - Manage Controller Credentials, specify an account with local admin rights on console machine, type the credentials in this format:Target_domain\username, specify the password and close with OK. Navigate to Project - Manage Domain Credentials, in this window press the tab Add and provide the following information:
First line - NETBIOS name of the source domain, eg. SOURCEDOMAIN
Second line - an account from source domain, which belongs to Domain Administrators in source domain and has local admin rights on each workstation in source domain, syntax is: SOURCEDOMAIN\username Third line - password. Close with OK.
Now repeat the same steps for the target domain and for each additional domain. Target account needs administrator rights in target domain and should be ideally a member of local (built in) Administrators group in target domain. Close with OK.
Ensure the window Manage Agents Credentials contains 2 different entries with 2 different separate accounts and close it. Now create and configure a collection and proceed. For ideas how to configure groups in RUM 8.4 till 8.6.1 please see SOL55853 with multiple screenshots: https://support.quest.com/Search/SolutionDetail.aspx?id=SOL55853
Important: If you already used the RUM then do the following:on QMM console machine open services.msc, locate and restart the Quest Migration Manager RUM Controller Service. Select and clean up the affected computers, discover them again and proceed with processing or migrating them.
Very important: in RUM 8.7 a new feature was introduced, now permissions can be set for each collection individually.
It is important to highlight the root by clicking on Collections and then navigate to Project - Manager Domain Credentials.
Otherwise the specified credentials will be valid only for the collection which was selected when Credentials were specified.
Every time you change the credentials you need to restart the RUM Controller service and then clean up (important!), discover and try the processing again.
