Foglight Storage reported multiple alarms stating that multiple physical disks on the netapp filer were reporting as failed or offline. However, when navigating to the Filer none of the disks that were reporting alarms showed up in the dashboard. Also when going into the NetApp filer itself and did not see these disks. Why these alarms are being triggered?
This is a known defect in vFoglight Storage caused by a bug referenced by tracking ID VFGLS-1001.
The NetApp has a primary and secondary node name for each disk. When NetApps are partnered, each partner sees a different node name for the disk. The NetApp the disk is on sees the Primary node name, the partner NetApp sees the secondary node name.
In this situation the NetApp changed the identification of the disk from the primary to the secondary. The same number of new disks were ‘found’ as were reported failed.
Defect request VFGLS-1001 has been submitted to Development for a fix in a future release. Please check the release notes of latest software to determine which bug fixes have been included in this release.
