Cannot access IBM DB2 native tools after installing Toad for DB2 2.0 with previous install of DB2 (4234964)

After installing Toad for DB2 2.0 an error is given when trying to launch other IBM DB2 tools (i.e. Client Configuration Assistant, Control Center and Command Center).

Sample error messages:

When launching IBM DB2 Control Center:

DB2 UDB
DB2JAVIT: RC = 9501
DB2INSTANCE: -1

When launching Client Configuration Assistant:

DB2 Message
SQL 10007N
The initialization of the program failed.
SQL10007N Message "-1390" could not be retrieved. Reason code: "2".
For additional information, press the help button. Correct the problem described in the help message and retry.
[ok][help]

Toad for DB2 2.0 is bundled with a v9 client. IBM does not support direct client migration from version 7 to version 9, so if the current client installed is v7 and Toad for DB2 with the bundled v9 client is installed, errors may occur.

WORKAROUND:

Upgrade v7 DB2 client to v8 before installing Toad for DB2 2.0 (which has v9 client bundled with it).

If an install of Toad 2.0 was done before v7 client could be upgraded.

Upgrade to v8 client. Toad for DB2 2.0 should not need to be un-installed or reinstalled. Both Toad and the DB2 native tools should be able to work together on the same system once there is a v8 client installed.
