1. Select Configure | Alarm Actions icon
2. Click New and provide a name to the rule
3. Enable ‘The Alarm is’ condition and click ‘alarms’ at bottom. Expand SQL Server node and enable ‘SQL Server Fatal Current Process Error (severity level 20) alarm and click Ok
4. Enable ‘The details contain’ condition and click ‘following phrases’ at the bottom
5. Click Add and enter the content of error, such as the number 17839 and click Ok
6. Click Add again and enter additional values or text and click Ok
7. If there’s a specific time frame that errors are raised, then also add the ‘The time of day is between’ condition. If not, then skip this step.
8. Enable ‘Suppress the alarm’ action and click Ok
9. Move this rule to the very top of your rules list
10. Click Ok to close the Alarm Action window
Note: To ensure you are including the correct details keywords:
1- Go to the Monitor Tab, select the sql server connection in question and select "error log" from the top ribbon.
2- Click on the find button (top right corner) and input the phrase or keyword you want to use for spotlght to find the message and click on "find next", if you are only able to find the desired error message, you can use this phrase as the input for the 'The details contain' on the alarm action, if the phrase yields unwanted results, you will need to review the phrase.
