Customer is trying to deploy the vranger 7.2.1/7.3.1 in the windows 2012 R2 domain controller server. Windows 2012R2 domain controller by defualt install the .net framework version 4.5 but the SQL server 2008R2 express require .net framework version 3.5. Installation ended with the below error message.
Error in package SQL Express 2008R2: Error when running package SQL Express 2008R2. Error code: 0x84B40000
1. First demote domain controller. Follow the below steps.
a. Launch Server Manager, select the Manage drop down menu, select Remove roles and features.
b. Review the Before You Begin page, Click Next
c. On the Select installation type page ensure Role-based or feature-based installation radial button is selected, click Next.
d. On the Select destination server page Select the desired server from the Server Pool
e. On the Remove Roles and Features Wizard, click on the Active Directory Domain Services box to remove the check box.
f. The Remove Roles and Features dialog box Remove features that require Active Directory Domain Service pops up, select Remove Features.
g. On the Remove Roles and Features Wizard dialog box Validation Results box will appear. The domain controller must be demoted before continuing. Click on Demote this domain controller.
h. On the Active Directory Domain Services Configuration Wizard enter the required credentials to demote this server, click Next.
2. Restart the server upon removal of the domain controller.
3. Install the .Net Framework version 3.5. follow the below steps.
a. Launch Server Manager, select the Manage drop down menu, select Add roles and features.
b. Review the Before You Begin page, Click Next.
c. On the Select installation type page ensure Role-based or feature-based installation radial button is selected, click Next.
d. On the Select destination server page Select the desired server from the Server Pool.
e. On the Select server roles wizard select on the Web Server (IIS), Click Next.
f. On the Select Features page, expand the .NET Framework 3.5 Features and click on the .NET Framework 3.5 box, Click Next.
g. Review the Confirm installation selections page, Click Install.
4. Reboot the machine and perform the vranger software installation.
