Define Data Adapter for Stat Datasource

To connect to the Stat Repository, you need to create a new Data Adapter using JasperSoft Studio.

To create a new Data Adapter:

In JasperSoft Studio, navigate to the Repository Explorer and create a new adapter.

Select JDBC Connection, and click Next to open the Data Adapter Wizard.

Specify the JDBC driver. For example, if the Stat Repository is on Oracle, select oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver.

Enter a valid JDBC URL, user name, and password.

Select a Driver Classpath, and click Add to add the proper JDBC driver. For example, for Oracle, the driver would be ojdbc6.jar.

Report Parameters

Jaspersoft Studio provides for several different types of Report Parameters.

•

Parameters provided by Jaspersoft Studio for internal workings of the report start with REPORT_, JASPER_REPORT, plus a couple others all in capital letters.

•

Stat supplies a few global parameters that may be used to populate data on your report. This includes the date/time that the report was created, the Report Title as stored in the Report Library and a Watermark on the report

•

Stat Reports use a series of prompt parameters that may be used in your custom reports. They can be used to filter data on your reports.

•

You may define your own custom parameters that prompt for data. Their names must be different than the predefined list below.

•

You may also define custom global parameters. These must start with P_. These may be used in combination or as replacements for the Stat delivered global parameters.

Stat Predefined Global Parameters

Stat has a series of predefined global parameters. The values associated with these parameters are owned by Quest and should not be modified.

•

CurrentTime - Displays the date/time that report was created

•

CompanyReserve - Displays Quest's copyright

•

ReportTitle - Displays the 40 character Report description from the Stat database

•

BACKGROUND_TEXT - Displays the watermark as defined in report.properties

This is a list of predefined parameters defined in Stat reports. These parameters are defined to prompt the user for a value that will filter the data on the report.

For each predefined parameter Stat Report Wizard has a corresponding control with specific rules. It could be a dropdown for example with pre-populated list of values. Default parameter descriptions can be overridden by specifying a value in parameter description property of the report itself.
