If you do not intend to use the Rename feature, Quest recommends that you delete the original VM before you perform recovery. |

If you do not intend to use the Rename feature and you do not intend to delete the original VM, ensure that the VM is turned off. Also ensure that none of its files are open before you perform recovery. The plug-in’s recovery process overwrites the existing VM, and write-access is required. |

If you want to restore a backup created with NetVault Backup Plug‑in for Hyper‑V 12.0 or older to multiple VMs simultaneously, the backup job must have been configured to include this capability. For more information, see Configuring parallel streams. |
When you restore a backup created with NetVault Backup Plug‑in for Hyper‑V 12.2 or later, the option to use or change the number parallel streams is available within the restore procedure, as found in Selecting data for an image-level restore. When you restore a backup created with an older version of the plug-in, if you want to use multiple parallel streams, then you must configure this setting before you can create a restore job.
Complete the following steps to configure parallel streams for versions 12.0 or older of NetVault Backup Plug‑in for Hyper‑V.

To configure parallel streams for a new backup job, in the Navigation pane, click Create Backup Job.You can also start the wizard from the Guided Configuration link. In the Navigation pane, click Guided Configuration. On the NetVault Configuration Wizard page, click Create backup jobs. |

To configure parallel streams for an existing backup job, in the Navigation pane, click Manage Job Definitions, select the backup job for the respective Hyper-V host, and then click Edit Job. |

On the NetVault Backup Selections page, expand the Hyper-V host, click Hyper-V Plugin, and then click Configure. |

For a 12.2 backup, click Edit Plugin Options, and then change the Maximum Number of Parallel Streams to the amount of VMs you want to simultaneously restore. |

NOTE: When restoring multiple clusters, you can configure parallel streams for each cluster or each node.
If you do not want to restore using parallel streams, you can set the number of streams as 1. |

On the Create Selection Set page, select the localhost or <clusterName> node to display the VMs, and then select one or more VMs to restore. |
NOTE: You cannot select individual files under a VM node. If you enabled indexing during backup and want to restore individual files, use file-level recovery. For more information, see Performing file-level recovery. If you select an Incremental or Differential Backup, the plug-in automatically restores all savesets in the backup sequence up to the selected saveset. |
