Not collecting all instances on SQL Server while running SQL discovery (4378662)

If the SQL server has multiple instances running the SQL discovery against that SQL server, discovery will not collect all instances.

A bug has been logged. Bug 538518: SQL Server Discovery: Not collecting all instances on SQL Server

Workaround:

Please follow the steps below to set the correct configuration:

1. Run SQL Server Configuration Manager
2. Go to the SQL Server Network Configuration tab
3. Enable TCP/IP for each instance
4. Go to the TCP/IP properties of each instance (except the default one) via context menu
5. In the IP Addresses tab, make sure that the addresses are dynamic. If not, set the TCP Dynamic Ports property to 0. This number will be different in next entrance.
6. Go to the SQL Server Services tab
7. Make sure SQL Server Browser is enabled
8. Make sure SQL Server instances are enabled
9. Make sure SQL Server Agent for each instance is enabled
10. Go to the properties of each service via context menu and in the Always On Availability Group tab, make sure that the Checkbox "Enable Always On Availability Groups" is set to True.
11. Restart SQL Server instance services from SQL Server Configuration Manager if there were any changes
12. Open Windows Defender Firewall with Advanced Security
13. Create Inbound Rule to always accept all connections to SQL Server Browser`s IP
14. Restart Enterprise Reporter Configuration Manager
15. Run SQL Server discovery
