Report Manager fails to run when performing a manual failover on a Windows SQL Server 2016 cluster (4294393)

This could be related to the version of SQL Server in use

To use Always On with SQL Server, the minimum version needs to be SQL Server Enterprise

SQL Server Standard version will not allow to setup the Secondary Replica access for Read which will prevent connection

The issue can be tested via a UDL file

Create the UDL file as per process in the link above

• In step 1, connect to the SQL Server Listener
• In step 2, select the appropriate login and password
• In step 3, via the drop-down menu, select the Enterprise Reporter database
• Click Test Connection

This should work on the First Node

• Now, fail-over the database to the Secondary Node in SQL Management Studio
• Come back to the UDL file and click Test Connection Again

If the following error is displayed, please contact your SQL Server Technician to check the Replica setting and SQL Server version

Resolution

• If using SQL Server Standard, please upgrade to Enterprise version for Always On Support
