The Full Text Index Service fails to index some attachments in the AttachmentToIndex table in the ArchiveManager SQL database. Checking the AttachmentFileID of these attachments, they are Microsoft Office attachments (.xls, .doc).
NOTE: Attachments stored in the Archive Manager Data directory are renamed and listed as the AttachmentFileID.
Windows 2003 Service Pack 2 replaces the Microsoft Office iFilter driver for indexing Microsoft Office files. The file responsible for this is in C:\Windows\System32 and is named offfilt.dll.
The version of the offfilt.dll file when Service Pack 2 is installed is 2006.0.5730.0. (or 2006.0.5732.0 with latest update)
WORKAROUND
1. Replace the offfilt.dll file with one from a Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 computer. The version of the offfilt.dll file when Service Pack 1 is installed is 2003.5.28.0.
2. Open a Command Prompt
3. Type regsvr32 offfilt.dll
4. Press Enter
5. Restart the Archive Manager Full Text Index Service
The Windows File Protection feature may undo the changes you have made, and in these cases, you may need todisable the Windows File Protection feature.
