Dataloader ERROR: Syntax error in @Recipients at or near position (4247449)

The following error is logged when an XML file is loaded into the database:

ERROR AfterMail.Log.Configuration.SQL - [3067624754-3696774628-4-0x0] Execute NonQuery:
An error occurred running a SQL statement. Dumping the SqlCommand.
The Exception message was: [The INSERT statement conflicted with the FOREIGN KEY constraint FK_MessageRecipient_RecipientType. The conflict occurred in database ArchiveManager, table dbo.RecipientType, column RecipientType.
MessageRecipient Record failed to insert.

The problem is that the DisplayName of the From address in the mail being loaded starts with a Combining Acute Accent, which SQL Server mistakenly treats as a column seperator.
