- User Access Control (UAC) is not allowing the license file to be applied.
- License is trying to be installed on 8.2 version
Resolution 1: Disabling User Access Control (UAC) via Registry Editor, Handling Conflicting Software, and Upgrading to UCD Server 8.5
Disabling User Access Control (UAC) via Registry Editor:
To resolve certain licensing issues and ensure proper functionality, follow these steps to disable User Access Control (UAC) using the Windows Registry Editor (regedit):
Press Windows + R
on your keyboard to open the "Run" dialog.
Type "regedit" and press Enter
to open the Windows Registry Editor.
In Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System
On the right-hand side, locate the entry "EnableLUA."
Double-click "EnableLUA" to edit its value.
Change the value data from "1" (enabled) to "0" (disabled).
Click "OK" to save the changes.
Close the Registry Editor.
Restart your computer to apply the UAC changes.
After rebooting, log back in and apply the license file for Spotlight on Messaging Server.
Handling Conflicting Software (Spotlight on Active Directory):
If Spotlight on Active Directory is installed on the same server as Spotlight on Messaging, follow these steps to resolve conflicts:
Uninstall Spotlight on Active Directory, UCCS - D, and any other Quest Software or Dell Software that is installed on the server.
Note: Spotlight on Messaging and UCCS - D are not supported on the same server.
Backup and delete the following Registry keys:
Rename the following directories:
Reboot the server.
Resolution 2: Upgrading UCD Server for New License Format
If you encounter licensing issues while trying to apply a license to version 8.2, it's likely due to the new license format (dlv). Please upgrade to the UCD latest version.
