Toad shows "Read only" in the bottom left hand corner and the user cannot edit or add data to tables in the database. How do I change Toad to be editable/full mode?
1. A Read-Only version of Toad was installed. Example: Toad for Oracle v9.6.1.1 Read Only.exe
OR
2. Read Only Queries option is checked.
OR
3. READONLY.LIC and FULLToad.LIC are in the installation directory where Toad is installed.
OR
4. Toad Security was setup and applied.
NOTE: Read Only mode allows administrators to give their users a powerful tool without worrying about a user committing a change to a sensitive database environment. While Toad honors privileges granted to the Oracle user, Toad Read Only will not allow the user to do anything which changes the content of the database. Please seek a Network Administrator and/or Database Administrator for proper use of Read Only mode.
RESOLUTION #1:
Download and install the full version of Toad for Oracle from Quest Supportlink:
http://support.quest.com/support_download/Downloads.asp
RESOLUTION #2:
Unchecked option "Default to Read Only Queries" under VIEW | OPTIONS | Data Grids | Data
RESOLUTION#3:
The file toad.lic has been overwritten with the file readonly.lic
1. To resolve this, delete the toad.lic file in the root of the Toad directory,
2. Make a copy of the file fulltoad.lic and rename the copy to toad.lic
3. Restart Toad.
SOLUTION#4:
Have your DBA remove the Read-only Override function in the Restricted features list in the Toad Security window. (DATABASE | ADMINISTER | Toad Security feature)
