When using Recovery Manager, you may receive the following error: "Cannot open the Exchange store database. Check if support for the following languages is installed: <languages>."
You may encounter this error when you do one of the following:
- Use the Add Storage Wizard to register an Exchange store database.
- In the console tree, attempt to open a storage associated with an Exchange store database.
- In the console tree, attempt to expand a folder in a storage associated with an Exchange store database.
The required language support is not installed on the computer running Recovery Manager.
TO INSTALL THE REQUIRED LANGUAGE SUPPORT
In Windows XP and Windows Server 2003:
1. In "Control Panel," double-click "Regional and Language Options."
2. On the Languages tab, in the "Supplemental language support" area, do the following:
- If the Recovery Manager error message lists Chinese, Japanese, and/or Korean, select the "Install files for East Asian languages" check box.
- If the Recovery Manager error message lists Arabic, Armenian, Georgian, Hebrew, the Indic languages, Thai, and/or Vietnamese, select the "Install files for complex script and right-to-left languages (including Thai)" check box.
3. On the Advanced tab, in the "Code pages conversion tables" area, select the check boxes next to the conversion table names that include the languages listed in the Recovery Manager error message.
4. Click Apply, and then click OK.
5. If you are prompted for your Windows or Service Pack installation CD, insert the CD or locate the installation files.
6. Restart your computer when prompted. If you are not prompted, click Start, click "Shut Down," and then click Restart.
In Windows 2000:
1. In "Control Panel," double-click "Regional Options."
2. On the General tab, in the "Language settings for the system" area, select the check boxes next to the languages listed in the Recovery Manager error message.
3. Click Advanced.
4. In the "Code pages conversion tables" area, select the check boxes next to the conversion table names that include the languages listed in the Recovery Manager error message.
5. Click Apply.
6. If you are prompted for your Windows or Service Pack installation CD, insert the CD or locate the installation files.
7. Restart your computer when prompted. If you are not prompted, click Start, click "Shut Down," and then select Restart.
8. Reinstall the latest Windows 2000 service pack installed on your computer
