In RMAD(FE) 9.0.1 and later, the ports are configurable from the RMAD Console and Forest Recovery Console. Please see the following KB Article:
https://support.quest.com/kb/264348
For 8.8.1 and earlier, on each DC:
- Stop the Forest Recovery Agent Service
- Open regedit and navigate to HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\FRRstSvc
- Modify Imagepath to have -p 57999 at the end of the striong (port number is an example). Below is an example of the imagepath once modified:
"C:\Program Files\Dell\Recovery Manager for Active Directory Forest Edition\FRRestoreService64.exe" -p 57999 - Start the Forest Recovery agent service
You will not need to make any changes on the console side. The console will connect to the agent on RPC port 135 and then the rest of the communication will be from the console to the agent over a specific port. The agent does not initiate communication to the console.
*Note* The "Verify Settings" will fail on the first step to verify DC access credentials with the error "RPC Server is unavailable". However this step is being removed in version 9.0 as it is not required for successful forest recovery as the product now uses SCHANNEL. The DC Access credentials are only used to manage the FE agent (deploy, upgrade, etc). If this error occurs when specifying an RPC port, just skip and continue or Abort the first step.
